Pediatric occupational therapy is a specialized field focused on helping children develop and improve the skills needed for daily living and functional activities. Occupational therapists (OTs) work with children who have physical, sensory, cognitive, or developmental challenges that impact their ability to perform everyday tasks. The goal is to enhance a child's ability to participate in home, school, and community activities.
We have experience treating children with a variety of deficits and diagnoses including sensory-processing disorder, visual-perceptual deficits, autism spectrum disorders, brachial plexus injury, deficits with performing daily functional tasks, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, handwriting deficits and other fine motor deficits.
We integrate play activities into functional tasks to address the deficits and goals that we have determined. We have one-to-one therapy sessions so that your child gets all the attention of his or her therapist and receives care that is tailored to your child's goals.
Becky Sheffield has been an occupational therapist for seven years, with the past four years dedicated to pediatric therapy. She earned her masters degree in Occupational Therapy from Belmont University in Nashville, TN. Becky has worked in diverse environments, including inpatient care, adult outpatient rehabilitation, schools, and pediatric outpatient care. Becky shared, "I love being a supporter, educator, and advocate for all of my patients to help them get the care they need and deserve."
